The day Artrio fell, Saoirse lost everything. Everything except the one thing the Hollow King came to find.
For seventeen years, Saoirse knew little of the world beyond her mountain home. Artrio was a place of warm hearths, crowded markets and ancient forests, built unknowingly above veins of powerful Aether-Quartz.
Then the sky turned purple.
The armies of the Hollow King descended upon Artrio without warning, slaughtering its people and tearing open the earth in search of the power buried beneath Mount Vane.
In the chaos, Saoirse’s father entrusts her with a silver ring set with a brilliant shard of Aether-Quartz. He calls it the Heart-Vein and gives her only one command:
Protect it with your life.
Forced to flee the only home she has ever known, Saoirse soon discovers that the ring is far more than a family heirloom. Ancient orders have guarded its secret. Kingdoms have killed for it. And the Hollow King will burn what remains of the realm to possess it.
But the deeper Saoirse ventures into the forgotten history of the Heart-Vein, the more dangerous the truth becomes.
Her father knew more than he ever told her.
The Hollow King is not the man she believed him to be.
And the power she carries may not have been created to save the realm at all.
Some secrets were buried for a reason.
The Heart-Vein is the first book in The Heart-Vein Trilogy, an epic dark-fantasy adventure of ancient magic, ruined kingdoms, buried histories, betrayal and the terrible cost of power.
