This study focuses on an under-researched area that has been a significant challenge to the education sector of Sierra Leone. The issue relates to the early examination entry of pupils into the National Primary School Examination, Basic Education Certificate Examination, and West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination, before their designated classes. Although several research works have been carried out to uncover the root causes of examination malpractice, including insufficient resources and poor teacher remuneration, there is a need to deliberate on the impact of skipping final classes on pupils’ cognitive development and the standard of education. This book therefore examines the causes of the early examination entry of pupils, assesses the effect on the standard of education, and recommends appropriate interventions.
